Counselling for anxiety, relational trauma & the patterns you can't seem to change — in Christchurch, the New Forest & online

Questions you might have before starting

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance for us to begin getting to know each other. We can talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you are hoping for, and any questions or worries you may have. You do not need to tell me everything straight away.

Can talking really help?

Yes, especially when talking happens in a safe and supportive relationship. Counselling is not just talking. It is being heard, understood and gently supported to make sense of your feelings, patterns and experiences.

Will i have to talk about my childhood?

Only if and when it feels right. Our past often shapes how we feel and relate today, so childhood experiences may become part of the work. But we will not rush or force anything.

What if really difficult emotions come up?

That's a completely understandable concern. We'll work at a pace that feels manageable for you, focusing first on building a sense of trust, stability and safety. While therapy can sometimes bring up difficult thoughts or emotions, there is no pressure to go further than feels right. If anything starts to feel overwhelming, we can pause, slow things down and find our footing again together. You'll be supported throughout the process and won't have to face those moments on your own.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies from person to person. Some people come for short-term support. Others choose longer-term counselling, especially when exploring childhood trauma, relationship patterns or deeper emotional difficulties. We can review this together as we go.

Do you offer in-person counselling?

Yes. I offer in-person counselling from comfortable, discreet rooms in Brockenhurst and Highcliffe. Clients tend to come from Christchurch, Bournemouth and across the New Forest.

Do you offer online counselling?

Yes. I offer online counselling for clients across the UK.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. Counselling is confidential, with some legal and ethical exceptions. I will explain these clearly before we begin, so you know what to expect.

What's your cancellation policy?

I ask for 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session, otherwise full payment will be due before your next session. If possible, I will offer to reschedule within the same week.

Do you have unanswered questions?

It's very common to feel a little nervous before coming to counselling.

Many people tell me, "I don't really know where to start," and that's absolutely okay.

You don't need to have everything figured out before you come. We can take things one step at a time and begin wherever feels right for you.

If you're wondering about anything at all, please feel free to get in touch. I'd be happy to help.
